he talked 2 us about cables.. copper cable n fiber optic cable... interesting lah... he ask alot of stuff... n my partner was like at there give blank look while i answer the in-charge... the difference between got read n nvr read 1... haha...

he said tmr we will b going out of office AND I REALLY HOPE HE MEAN IT!!! i dont wan stay in office n read the stupid book liao... seriously... u think is like damn slack... but u will read till wana slp.. n plus u cant slp... n tat feeling sux...

oh well.. hope tmr we get 2 do something interesting...


copper cable are divided into : cat 3, cat 5(not in use anymore), cat 5e, cat 6, cat 6a, cat 7, cat 7a

cat 3 is our phone line cable
cat 5e & cat 6 supports speed up till 1gbps
cat 6a & cat 7 supports speed up till 10 gbps but cat 7 is still in draft stage..
cat 7a supports speed up till 40 gbps but is also in draft stage..

all copper cable haf a effective length of 90m

than next we go fiber optic
fiber optic are catagorised into 2 types.. multimode and singlemode
multimode has 3 types om1, om2 and om3
om1 has a glass core diameter of 62.5 micron
om2 has a glass core diameter of 50 micron
om3 has a glass core diameter of 50 micron(enhanced)

om1 and om2 can go up till 1gbps
om3 can go up till 10gbps

next we haf the singlemode
there are actually 2 types of singlemode but only 1 type is commonly used

has a glass core diameter of 8.3 micron (even smaller than our hair)
it's speed is 10gbps and up... tats fast...

the wavelength of multimode is 850 - 1300 (uses LED)

while the wavelength of singlemode is 1300 - 1550 (uses laser)
